Harvey Disaster Relief and MOWCTX
August 30, 2017
More than 30,000 of our fellow Texans remain homeless in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. Thousands of them have evacuated to other parts of the state, including the Austin area. Meals on Wheels Central Texas (MOWCTX) is receiving requests for our services from people who have temporarily relocated here. We stand ready to provide them with the help they so desperately need.
At the same time, in the areas that suffered massive destruction, Harvey’s aftermath has severely affected day-to-day operations at agencies that provide the very services required by people impacted by the storm. MOWCTX is a founding member of Meals on Wheels Texas, a state association of Meals on Wheels agencies; and our agency, together with others around the state, will use our resources to help those programs help those in need.
You can donate to MOWCTX and we will ensure that any donation specified for hurricane relief will be used to support our agency’s efforts to help with such relief, including for evacuees in Central Texas and our sister Meals on Wheels agencies in the damaged areas.
MOWCTX is actively participating in efforts to evaluate needs and coordinate care for those impacted by the Hurricane, and will continue to share information on our website and social media platforms.
If you want to donate to Meals on Wheels Texas, you can do that too at www.mealsonwheelstexas.org. All donations received on the MOWT website between now and September 30th will be used for disaster relief.
