Summer is here. But hunger doesn’t go on vacation. Unfortunately, our volunteer ranks can dwindle during the summertime. That's why we need your support!
Help us make this a hunger and isolation-free summer for older adults in Central Texas. In a single lunch hour, you can make a real difference for those who cannot leave their home.
Why Volunteer During the Summer?
Meals on Wheels Central Texas has been a consistent lifeline for older adults in need since 1972. Many older adults want to remain in their homes. And they need supportive services to do so.
Our volunteers are vital in empowering our neighbors to remain independent. You deliver nourishment and critical wellness checks that keep them safe as they age in place. This summer, as temperatures exceed 100 degrees, your knock is especially crucial.
Join us for a single or recurring meal delivery this summer and be the knock our older adult neighbors depend on. You can learn more about our array of programs and other volunteer opportunities here.
Summer Hunger Calls for Help
Becoming a volunteer is simple. The connections made here are rewarding. Lucia and Leo Zonn are Meals on Wheels Central Texas volunteers. They have been delivering meals and smiles for five years. They first learned about delivering meals from fellow Meals on Wheels volunteers.
“We started volunteering because it was available. On our first delivery, we fell in love with the people,” shares Leo.
Leo also shares that the two first signed up because it seemed easy enough. And it is! Join Lucia and Leo to help fight Central Texas hunger this summer.
