Meet Our Community Champion: Marc Duchen

May 1, 2025

Marc Duchen proudly represents Austin City Council’s District 10. He has called this Austin district home for the last 24 years. Marc has served in a variety of community roles and utilizes his expertise in data, technology and business to serve and uplift the community.

Marc was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and moved to Texas at age four. He studied at the University of Texas at Austin, where he obtained his BA in Government and MBA in Entrepreneurship.

For the first part of his career, Marc worked in Democratic and local politics. He worked on political campaigns across Texas and has served in a variety of community roles. With an MBA, Marc has extensive knowledge in the sectors of technology, business, and data science. He has worked in product development and consulting.

In 2015, he became active in neighborhood issues and local politics. He began his career in local politics by joining the Homeowner’s Association Board in 2015. In serving District 10’s constituents, Marc is focused on addressing issues related to public safety, affordable housing, environmental protection, and government transparency.

Marc is dedicated to making Austin a better, safer place for Austinites. As a Community Champion, Marc is learning about the needs of older and homebound adults. This becomes increasingly important as the aging population continues to grow in our city and across the Central Texas region.

On May 1, Marc joined Meals on Wheels Central Texas for a tour of our offices and kitchen. He learned more about the meal prep that happens at the Central Kitchen, and the 3,000 hot, nutritious meals that are prepared to be delivered each day. We were proud to present Marc with a Certificate of Recognition.

Thank you, Marc, for your commitment to empowering our homebound neighbors in need. You can connect with Marc on Facebook (Council Member Marc Duchen), LinkedIn (Marc Duchen), and Instagram (@marcforaustin)

Our Community Champions initiative seeks to bring awareness to the needs of older adults in Central Texas and to raise support for the services they depend on that help them remain independent with dignity. Older adults need our support now more than ever!

You can be a Champion and bring hope to our homebound neighbors in need at a time when they critically need it. Join us in sharing a message of advocacy, do lunch with us, or kindly make a gift to help keep our Meals firmly on Wheels.
