Meet Our Community Champion: Shafina Khaki

July 15, 2025

Shafina Khaki is the Human Rights Officer for the City of Austin’s Office of Equity and Inclusion. Formerly, she served as a Special Attorney to the Attorney General for the State of Washington and the City of Seattle. She has also worked with the United Nations system in various roles.

Shafina and her team at the Office of Equity and Inclusion work to help each person feel safe, like they belong, and are represented in our community. With a commitment to empowering individuals, working towards equity, and leading with empathy, Shafina embodies the true nature of a Community Champion.

Shafina, joined by her colleagues from the Office of Equity and Inclusion, visited Meals on Wheels Central Texas for a tour of our offices and kitchen. Here, we presented Shafina with a Certificate of Recognition, honoring her commitment to older adults’ health and well-being. As a champion, she will advocate for our homebound neighbors’ needs and the services they depend on to thrive.
