Meet Our January Mission Ambassador: Metz GO Project

January 22, 2026
The GO Project is an Austin-based transition program for students living with disabilities who are 18-22 years of age. Through this program, students can move beyond high school and enter a college or work environment to continue learning.
Students from the Metz GO Program maintain active schedules, volunteering at many local organizations, and participating in activities around the community. The Metz GO Project group has volunteered at Meals on Wheels Central Texas several times now, supporting office tasks including sealing mail and preparing folders for several programs here. The group enjoys volunteering with us because it allows them to give back to others in their community.
“We like volunteering here because we can help people,” says Metz student, Natalia.
This program promotes adult living skills and allows its students to participate in activities related to life transitions and form relationships with same-age peers. Several of the students in the Metz program have jobs along with their volunteer commitments. Many are also in the interview process.
“I like helping others and can be kind to people at Meals on Wheels,” shares Metz student, Justin.
Thank you to the Metz GO Project and their sponsors, Virginia and Paul. Before the GO Program, Virginia was an educator of 15 + years and Paul worked for the YMCA GO Project site. We would like to recognize Virginia, Paul, and the Metz GO Program students as Meals on Wheels Central Texas Mission Ambassadors.
aBOUT THE MISSION AMBASSADORS PROGRAM
Through our Mission Ambassadors program, we highlight members of our community who have been exemplary, both in their passion for our mission, but also their dedication to uplifting and empowering our neighbors. Together, we strive to uplift our homebound neighbors and advocate for the services that help them remain dignity and independent.
Looking for a way to support this mission? Join us for meal delivery or make a donation to deliver nutrition, connection, and independence to older adults and other homebound neighbors across Central Texas.
