Meals on Wheels Central Texas provides More Than A Meal—we offer a range of services to help our neighbors live independently with dignity. Over 5,000 Central Texas neighbors depend on this care!
With the uncertainty of funding, the rising cost of living, and growing demand for our services, we are working hard to remain a consistent lifeline for those we serve.
We want to keep saying "yes" to every neighbor who asks for help, but we can’t do this alone. Together, we can keep our promise to our neighbors in need.
A Closer Look of What’s at Stake
If Meals on Wheels Central Texas were to close its doors, the effects would be felt throughout the community. Let’s take a close look at what the impact would look like:
Loss of Nutrition Support: Over 3,000 neighbors receive a hot, healthy lunch from us each weekday. Without us, many may face hunger and malnutrition.
More Loneliness: Our visits are not just for food. A simple “hello” from volunteers makes our older neighbors feel less isolated, safer, and more comfortable in their homes.
Health Problems: Without our meals and other services like in-home care, home repair, and grocery support, our neighbors might face increased health risks.
More Stress for Families: Families who count on the care we provide for their loved ones may experience financial strain from having to pay for meal preparation and meal delivery.
Economic Impact: Without the healthy meals and care we provide, healthcare expenses for older adults will rise.
