Youth Advocate Reese Herd Joins Community Champions

July 17, 2025
Reese Herd II is a born and raised Austinite. He is a dedicated community organizer, activist, mentor, and father. Reese co-founded the Dream Out Loud Experience (DOLE), an Austin-based organization supporting the dreams of children from low-income families.
In his work, Reese promotes youth empowerment, racial justice, and support for families with the DOLE. Additionally, he has played a vital role in organizing demonstrations that amplify Black Austin voices.
He also uses his voice to uplift students by speaking at school events, where he shares life lessons and advice. Reese organized the annual Something at the Park back-to-school initiative, providing school clothes, supplies, backpacks, and haircuts for families in need.
Reese shares that his work is a daily boots-on-the-ground experience. “It never feels like work when you get to do what you love. Helping people, offering hope, and inspiring youth gives my life meaning and purpose,” Reese shares.
As a new Community Champion, Reese will be using his voice and platform to advocate for older adults and other homebound individuals across Central Texas. We honored Reese as a new Community Champion during his visit to Meals on Wheels Central Texas, where he toured our facilities and our Central Kitchen.
