PRESIDENT AND CEO
During his more than 10 years as CEO and President of Meals on Wheels and More, Dan Pruett has grown both the number of meals that the organization provides each year and the number of services we offer our clients.
Dan spearheaded the addition of several new programs including Mike’s Place, an activity center for individuals with Alzheimer’s that simultaneously provides respite for their caregivers; our Home Repair Program, which provides significant home improvements and renovations for clients living in substandard housing; the Meals for Kids Program which provides afterschool meals to children of low-income families; the Glenda Rogers Country Wheels Program, that provides a weeks’ worth of meals to homebound clients living in remote, rural areas; and the Pets Assisting the Lives of Seniors Program (P.A.L.S.) which provides assistance with food and basic preventative veterinary care for the pets of our homebound clients.
Dan is also the Founding President of the Meals on Wheels Association of Texas, the current Chair of the Travis and Williamson County Emergency Food and Shelter Program (ESFP), Chair of the Aging Texas Well Implementation Committee of the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services, Chair of the Basic Transportation Needs Fund Board, a member of the City of Austin’s Commission on Seniors , the Past Chair of One Voice Central Texas, and Past Chair of the Basic Needs Coalition of Central Texas. Prior to taking the helm at Meals on Wheels and More, Dan was the Deputy Executive Director at the Capital Area Food and also spent two decades helping to build a business in the private sector.
