PALS Donation Drive
We're excited to announce that we have partnered with The Arboretum again to host a 3 day donation drive for our PALS (Pets Assisting the Lives of Seniors) program. See below for info on items needed at the moment.
The drop-off area will be in front of Lamps Plus from 11AM - 12PM Tuesday, September 22 - Thursday, September 24.
PALS provides assistance in caring for the pets of current Meals on Wheels Central Texas clients.
A pet can provide much needed companionship and help to reduce the isolation and loneliness that many of the homebound seniors and adults with disabilities we serve experience. As one client wrote to us, “God Bless you for thinking about our little pets. I love and adore my kitty more than anything or anyone on Earth. I couldn’t live a day without him.” The PALS mission is to keep clients and their pets together, living at home with dignity.
PALS provides free dog and cat food on a monthly basis to more than 450 pets owned by current Meals on Wheels Central Texas clients. Pets get the food they need and our clients, many of whom are socially isolated, benefit from interaction with our pet-loving volunteers.
Here is a list of items needed at this time:
5.5 oz cans of Mighty Dog wet food
13.2 oz cans of Pedigree wet food
Purina Little Bites dry dog food (comes in 4lb and 16lb bags)
Fancy Feast Pate (Non-seafood flavors)
20-25lb Clumping Litter (Any Brand)
Meow Mix Tender Centers and Hairball Control dry food (small bags)

I Need a Sub for My Route
Substitute Drivers are responsible for delivering meals to homebound clients as a back-up driver when the regular volunteer meal delivery driver is unable to take the route. Much like a substitute teacher, the substitute driver does not have a permanent weekly route, but is called as needed.
